Controls Engineering Lead – Data Centres – Ireland/Remote + Global Travel
Our client is an established main contractor working across Europe specialising in the delivery of Data Centre construction projects on behalf of global blue-chip clients. They offer a full turnkey service for their clients from design, construction and handover across the full range of CSA (civil, structural, architectural), MEP (mechanical and electrical) and commissioning works
The need now exists for an experienced Controls Engineering Lead on Data Centre construction projects globally.
Responsibilities
Controls Strategy & Architecture
Own and develop scalable controls architectures and engineering standards across global mission-critical projects, defining best practices for BMS, EPMS, SCADA, PLCs, and control networks to ensure consistency, repeatability, and high-performance delivery.
Operational Design
Define facility-level operating philosophies, including sequences of operation and cause & effect logic, ensuring all systems perform reliably across normal operation, maintenance, failure events, and recovery scenarios.
Systems Integration
Lead the integration of electrical, mechanical, and digital infrastructure, establishing clear interface strategies, communication protocols, and control ownership models so all systems function as a unified, coordinated platform.
Digital & Data Strategy
Shape the operational technology and data framework by aligning controls systems with digital platforms, standardising data structures and naming conventions, and enabling advanced analytics, automation, and future-ready capabilities.
Project & Technical Leadership
Provide technical leadership across concept design, bids, and delivery, translating complex requirements into practical, buildable solutions while guiding teams on engineering standards and strategic decision-making.
Commissioning & Performance
Define and support commissioning and testing strategies, ensuring systems are validated, operationally ready, and optimised for long-term performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Must have 10+ years’ experience in a similar role on large scale construction projects including Data Centres
Must have relevant experience degree level qualifications
Base in Ireland and EU Passport is preferred
Must be willing and able to travel internationally when required
Benefits
€130,000 - €140,000 + 20% bonus + €7k Car Allowance + Daily Living Allowance when in another country
