HSE Advisor (5-Month Engineering Contract)

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and assertive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor for an immediate start on a fast-paced engineering project in Bicester. This critical 5-month contract focuses on overseeing all aspects of site safety, with a heavy emphasis on Temporary Works and the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) installation of heavy machinery.
The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator capable of stepping onto a live site, identifying compliance gaps, and collaborating with contractors to rapidly improve site safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Audits & Reporting: Conduct rigorous daily site safety audits and compile detailed weekly compliance reports for management.
- Contractor Troubleshooting: Investigate, address, and rectify previous Safe Working Practices violations committed by contractors on site.
- RAMS Management: Review, assess, and perform strict compliance checks on Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS).
- Workforce Engagement: Deliver engaging, practical weekly toolbox talks to frontline operatives to drive a safety-first mindset.
- Advisory Support: Provide clear, accurate, and actionable safety guidance to both site operatives and senior site management.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or higher)
- Valid CSCS Card
- Proven experience managing safety within M&E installations or Temporary Works
- Excellent conflict-resolution skills and the ability to challenge unsafe behaviors constructively
- Full availability for Saturday shifts
