Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Engineer



Warrington | £41 per Hour (Inside IR35) | Hybrid - 3 Days On Site | 12-Month Contract

We're looking for a Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of innovative engineering solutions on complex nuclear projects. Working within a collaborative design team, you'll be involved in developing bespoke mechanical equipment and tooling that plays a vital role in supporting one of the UK's most important infrastructure programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong design experience who enjoys solving technical challenges in a highly regulated environment.

The Role

You'll be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical designs and engineering documentation to support the manufacture and installation of specialist equipment.
Key responsibilities include:

• Producing 2D and 3D mechanical designs and engineering drawings
• Developing design packages for manufacture and installation
• Supporting the design of bespoke tooling and mechanical equipment
• Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver project objectives
• Preparing technical documentation, method statements and risk assessments
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant engineering standards and safety requirements
• Participating in design reviews and providing technical input throughout the project lifecycle

About You

We're looking for candidates with:

• Experience in mechanical design or mechanical engineering
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and engineering drawing production
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical assemblies
• Experience producing engineering documentation and design packages
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

Desirable Experience

• Experience within the nuclear, defence, energy or other highly regulated sectors
• Knowledge of bespoke tooling, lifting equipment or plant modification projects
• Familiarity with engineering standards and quality assurance processes
• Experience working on projects for Sellafield or within the nuclear decommissioning sector
