Packaging Engineer

£45.00 per hour + Long Term Contract + High Autonomy + Continuous Improvement Projects + 1-Stage Interview

Stockton-on-Tees (Commutable from: Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool, Billingham, Yarm, Redcar, Newton Aycliffe, Durham)

Are you a Packaging Engineer looking for high autonomy and the chance to lead continuous improvement projects with real site impact? Do you have strong CAD skills and confidence interpreting technical drawings in a manufacturing environment?

This is a long-term contract position where you'll take true ownership-driving packaging, safety and operational improvements day-to-day, with the freedom to deliver results independently.

You'll be joining a well-established heavy manufacturing environment where this "boots on the ground" presence is critical, giving you the platform to influence quality, logistics, supply chain performance and efficiency on site.

Based between the office and the manufacturing floor, you'll lead independent packaging engineering projects, coordinate improvements, and support operations with practical engineering solutions.

This role suits a technically driven engineer who's motivated by ownership, accountability, and becoming the go-to packaging specialist on site (rather than a role built around formal training programmes).

The Role:

• On-site Packaging Engineer role supporting a major manufacturing site in Stockton-on-Tees
• Leading packaging engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives (safety, quality, logistics)
• Core hours 08:00-16:00, with flexibility by agreement and occasional local/regional day travel

The Person:

• Strong CAD software proficiency
• Ability to read and interpret technical/CAD drawings
• Engineering/technical background within a packaging/manufacturing environment
