Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly professional Project Director to lead the delivery of a major, long-term construction programmes in Europe on behalf of a specialist subcontractor.
This is a senior, client-facing position with responsibility for overseeing multiple phases of a complex development within a live operational environment. The successful candidate will act as the primary representative for the business on site, providing strategic leadership across technical delivery, programme management, stakeholder engagement, and commercial performance.
The role requires an individual who presents confidently and professionally at senior level, is comfortable building relationships with key stakeholders, and is willing to travel and stay away from home when required to support project meetings, client engagement, and programme delivery.

The Role
The Project Director will take overall responsibility for project performance, representing the subcontractor at senior level and working closely with client representatives, main contractors, consultants, and delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain a visible and professional presence across all levels of the project team and client organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the senior on-site representative for the subcontractor, developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Lead the successful delivery of multiple project phases from planning through to completion.
- Develop and oversee programme strategies, key milestones, and delivery plans.
- Ensure effective coordination across all workstreams, disciplines, and project interfaces.
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
- Chair progress meetings, reporting forums, and stakeholder coordination sessions.
- Drive excellence in health, safety, quality, and compliance performance.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, constraints, and dependencies.
- Oversee commercial performance, change management, and project reporting.
- Promote continuous improvement, best practice, and operational excellence.
- Represent the business professionally at all times, fostering confidence and trust with clients and project partners.
Key Attributes & Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior project leadership role within the construction sector, ideally working for a specialist subcontractor.
- Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies, project delivery, and programme management.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex, multi-phase projects within live operational environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently at senior client and executive level.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commercially astute with excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Professional, articulate, and confident in representing the business in client-facing environments.
- Flexible and willing to travel extensively, including staying away from home when required to support project and client commitments.
- Relevant industry qualifications, such as SMSTS, CSCS, or equivalent.
- Ability to build credibility quickly and maintain strong working relationships across all project stakeholders.
