Job Description:
We are looking for a Project Manager to work on a permanent basis in Chorley/Hybrid.
We are looking for an engineering Project Manager who specialises in Business change / Business Transformation / Continuous improvement.
The role is working Monday to Thursday (2 days' in the office, 2days' from home).
Salary is c£62-72,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus a car allowance of £5,400 per annum.
25 days' holiday and bank holidays, company pension, healthcare etc
Main Duties & Responsibilities for the Project Manager
- Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Manage project governance, compliance, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Lead project planning, scheduling, and delivery, including management of Primavera P6 programmes.
- Manage project resources, including people, budgets, and supply chain activities.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, opportunities, and change control processes.
- Act as the primary client contact, ensuring effective communication and management of expectations.
- Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
- Monitor project performance, prepare status reports, and implement corrective actions where required.
- Control project budgets, costs, and financial performance, supporting invoicing and cash recovery activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, security, and quality requirements.
- Support tendering and bid activities by contributing to project delivery strategies.
- Lead, coach, and mentor project teams, promoting continuous improvement and professional development.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support project and business objectives.
Person Specification for the Project Manager
Essential
- Significant project management experience within complex engineering, infrastructure, nuclear, defence, or highly regulated environments.
- Experience working with NEC contracts.
- Proven ability to lead project teams and manage cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong budget management, cost control, and resource planning skills.
- Experience in risk management, project reporting, and change control.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to interpret project schedules, financial data, and technical information.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold teams accountable.
- Experience managing project delivery to agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (minimum SC level).
Desirable
- Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Experience working in nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
