We are seeking a passionate and motivated Registered Manager to lead and develop our two-bed children's residential home in the Southampton area.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager looking to take the next step into registration, or an established Registered Manager seeking a fresh challenge within a supportive and growing organisation.

The Role

As the Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring children and young people receive high-quality care that promotes positive outcomes, stability and personal growth.

You will ensure the home operates in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, maintains regulatory compliance and strives to deliver the highest standards of care in line with Budwood policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will work closely with the wider management team and professional support services to ensure the home operates effectively and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include leadership and development of the staff team, safeguarding, care planning, quality assurance and maintaining positive relationships with local authorities and other key stakeholders.

You will be supported by a network of experienced professionals across Clinical Services, Education, Quality Assurance, Human Resources and Learning and Development, alongside dedicated Area Manager support, ensuring you have everything needed to succeed and deliver the very best outcomes for the children and young people in your care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the leadership, management, development and operation of a high-quality two-bed children's residential home, ensuring positive outcomes for young people
• Promote partnership working with young people, their families, colleagues and external agencies to ensure individual needs are effectively met
• Provide effective leadership by implementing organisational strategies and objectives, contributing to the continued success and growth of Budwood
• Promote team development, engagement and effective team working within the home
• Maximise the effectiveness of staff through motivation, development, coaching and the application of Budwood personnel policies and procedures
• Lead on setting standards, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement within the service
• Contribute to the development of corporate policies, service initiatives and best practice aimed at enhancing the quality of care provided by Budwood
• Set, monitor and review targets and objectives for the staff team, ensuring clear direction and accountability
• Provide operational management of the home and deploy staffing resources effectively to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of services, including participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota
• Hold line management responsibility for the staff team, ensuring all employees receive appropriate induction, supervision, performance reviews and support
• Ensure effective communication systems are in place and that key information is shared appropriately and efficiently
• Oversee referrals, admissions and transitions, ensuring placements are suitable and that young people's assessed needs can be effectively met
• Ensure continuity of care and support for young people, minimising risks and promoting stability, resilience and positive behavioural outcomes
• Ensure compliance with all Budwood policies and procedures, the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards
• Actively participate in recruitment, retention and staffing matters, including grievance, disciplinary and health and safety processes, with support from the Area Manager and HR team
• Identify staff training and development needs and ensure these are met through training, coaching and mentoring opportunities
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation, regulations and organisational policies
• Regularly inspect and monitor the home, ensuring that the property, equipment, furnishings and grounds are safe, secure, well maintained and fit for purpose
• Manage budgets, financial controls, administration and record-keeping in line with organisational expectations and procedures
• Promote and implement the organisation's equality, diversity and inclusion policies and practices
• Ensure that all staff understand and consistently implement safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with Ofsted, local authorities, external professionals and other stakeholders
• Ensure the home maintains regulatory compliance and consistently strives towards achieving and sustaining Good or Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
• Act as the Registered Manager and fulfil all responsibilities associated with the role
• Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Responsible Individual or senior management team

Essential Criteria

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to achieve this within three years of starting to manage the home
• At least two years' relevant residential childcare experience within the previous five years
• At least one year's experience in a role involving the supervision and management of care staff
• Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and safeguarding legislation
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop staff teams
• Experience of managing budgets, rotas, staffing and regulatory compliance
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
• Ability to participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota
