Senior Civil Design Engineer – United Utilities AMP 8

Location: Manchester (Flexible Hybrid)
Contract: Long-term - Outside IR35

Our client, a leading Tier 1 contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract basis, supporting delivery on the United Utilities AMP8 framework. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major programme of investment in water and wastewater infrastructure, delivering critical projects across the North West.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of civil engineering designs from concept through to detailed design and construction support
• Produce cost-effective, sustainable, and buildable design solutions
• Coordinate design activities across multi-disciplinary engineering teams
• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, relevant standards, and health & safety requirements
• Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
• Provide technical input to proposals, planning, and project delivery
• Support delivery to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
• Mentor and support junior engineers and designers
• Maintain accurate project documentation and BIM compliance
• Engage with stakeholders including clients, contractors, and internal teams

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
• Demonstrable experience in a civil design engineering role within infrastructure projects
• Strong experience in the water and/or wastewater sector (highly desirable)
• Background in a design and build environment
• Good understanding of CDM regulations and engineering standards
• Ability to lead technical design work and coordinate teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ideally Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
