Job Role: Senior Process Commissioning Engineer
Location: Avonmouth - Site Based
Salary: CIRCA £65k + benefits package
About the Role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Process Commissioning Engineer to work alongside an existing commissioning team on a major £200m capital investment programme in Avonmouth.
This is a flagship programme with significant stakeholder engagement, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional to take a key role in the successful delivery of the programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute commissioning plans for new wastewater assets.
- Develop and review Process Risk Assessments (PRAs) and RAMS.
- Manage commissioning costs, resources and delivery schedules.
- Support outage planning and live operational integration activities.
- Coordinate project, operations, contractor and supplier interfaces.
- Verify commissioning readiness and site acceptance criteria.
- Supervise pre-commissioning, dry testing and wet testing activities.
- Coordinate process start-up, optimisation and performance testing.
- Develop and manage process sampling and laboratory testing plans.
- Analyse commissioning and performance data to support optimisation.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
- Lead pollution prevention and environmental risk mitigation activities.
- Promote and demonstrate strong health, safety and wellbeing leadership.
- Challenge unsafe behaviours and ensure compliance with safe systems of work.
- Deliver operational training and support competency transfer.
- Coordinate asset handover and operational readiness activities.
- Produce commissioning reports, trackers and progress updates.
- Escalate programme, safety and delivery risks where necessary.
- Develop effective relationships with project teams, operations and contractors.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation and lessons learned.
- Mentor junior engineers and support team capability development.
- Provide technical leadership throughout design, delivery, commissioning and handover.
About You:
- Extensive multi-year experience in process commissioning on large projects.
- Experience in process commissioning and wastewater within the UK water sector.
- Experience in anaerobic/mesophilic and acid phase digestion.
- Experience in gas production and associated process safety and MOC requirements.
- Technical knowledge of Sequence Batch Reactors, including operation and commissioning.
- Awareness of COMAH is essential.
- Willingness to lead critical hazard studies prior to and during commissioning.
- Level 4 WAMITAB is desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in laboratory testing of wastewater samples would be advantageous but not essential.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project teams, operations, contractors and suppliers.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
- The successful candidate will need to be site based.
