Stress Engineer

Role: Stress Engineer – Mechanical / Aerospace Structures
Location: Hertfordshire (3 days a week onsite)
Salary: Circa £58,000 + bonus + benefits
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to lead the structural design and development of next-generation aerospace products. As a Stress Engineer, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver advanced aerospace structural solutions, from concept through detailed design and in-service support.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Stress Engineer to apply expertise in both classical hand calculations and CAE modelling, working on cutting-edge military systems.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structural analysis as a Stress Engineer across the product lifecycle
Perform classical hand calculations and CAE simulations (static, dynamic, fatigue, nonlinear, aeroelastic, impact)
Prepare and present technical reports to stakeholders, including senior management
Lead and plan structural analysis work packages, ensuring schedules and quality
Mentor junior engineers and support professional development
Contribute to methods, processes, and tool improvements
Support composite stress analysis and fault investigations
Experience & Skills Required
Proven experience as a Stress Engineer delivering structural analysis work packages
Skilled in CAE tools (Hyperworks desirable) and classical hand calculation methods
Strong communication and report-writing skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams
Problem-solving mindset with proactive approach to method and process improvement
