Job Description:

Location: Littlehampton - West Sussex

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Working Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Our client is an established business specialising in the supply of products and solutions to the construction and infrastructure sectors. Due to continued operational requirements, they are looking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner to join their team at their West Sussex headquarters.

The successful Transport Planner will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling HGV deliveries and collections, working closely with drivers, customers, depots, external hauliers and the wider Operations Management Team.

This is a varied position involving end-to-end transport planning, route optimisation, fleet coordination and customer communication, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and within agreed deadlines.


Transport Planner Responsibilities:

• Planning and coordinating daily HGV deliveries and collections, ensuring efficient routes and vehicle utilisation.
• Producing daily load plans and coordinating stock availability with depots and warehouse teams.
• Liaising with drivers, customers, external hauliers and internal departments to ensure smooth delivery operations.
• Managing changes to delivery schedules and resolving any transport or operational issues.
• Monitoring vehicle compliance, maintenance schedules, transport costs and service performance.
• Supporting the Transport Manager with reporting, operational improvements and ensuring transport activities meet UK legislation and safety requirements.

Transport Planner Requirements

• Previous experience in HGV Transport Planning or Transport Coordination, with a good understanding of UK transport legislation and compliance.
• Good knowledge of UK geography and road networks, with strong organisational and communication skills.
• Confident using Microsoft Office and transport planning systems, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve operational challenges.
• A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Previous HGV driving or delivery experience and a Manager CPC / National or International CPC qualification would be advantageous.
• Experience with construction site products, including water-filled barriers or timber hoarding, would also be beneficial.

• £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
