Assistant Service Manager - Thurrock (Office-based)

£36,000-£40,000 + Career Progression | Monday-Friday + 1 in 2 Saturdays

Are you looking for the next step in your automotive or commercial vehicle career?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful commercial vehicle dealership and work directly alongside a highly respected Service Manager who started their own journey in the workshop and worked his way up through the business. 

You'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy service operation, supporting a team of 6 within the Service Department and 24 workshop staff. This is a varied position combining people management, operational oversight and exciting improvement projects that will help shape the future of the business.

Whether your background is in commercial vehicles, automotive, service administration, workshop control, technical support or a strong customer-focused office environment, full support and training will be provided for the right person with the right attitude.

What you'll be getting stuck into

• Supporting the Service Manager with the day-to-day running of a busy commercial vehicle service department
• Helping oversee a team of Service Advisors, Administrators and Workshop personnel
• Monitoring workshop productivity, efficiency and utilisation
• Supporting job scheduling and workshop planning to ensure customer deadlines are met
• Working closely with customers, manufacturers and suppliers to maintain excellent service levels
• Assisting with performance monitoring, reporting and departmental KPIs
• Supporting the management of warranty, invoicing and service processes
• Helping resolve customer queries and service-related issues
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and overall departmental performance
• Leading and supporting continuous improvement projects across the service operation

What we're looking for

• Experience within automotive, commercial vehicles, HGV, plant, fleet or a similar industry
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• A natural problem-solver who enjoys improving processes and getting things done
• Confident managing workloads and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong IT and administration skills
• Leadership potential and a genuine desire to progress into senior management
• A hardworking, hands-on approach with a willingness to learn
