Job Description:

Retail Growth Manager

Up to £50,000 DOE

Performance‑related bonus up to 20% of base salary

Car allowance (£6,000 per annum)

Manchester based with national travel

The Company

A premium food and beverage manufacturer with strong growth across digital and e commerce channels. The business is now ready to build its physical retail presence and develop a structured retail channel from an early stage. The environment is fast paced, collaborative and commercially focused.

The Role

You will be responsible for building and growing the physical retail channel. The role focuses on opening new retail customers, developing independent trade and shaping the retail model from the ground up. You will work closely with the commercial and e commerce teams to ensure full alignment with brand, pricing, digital activity and customer insight.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building a targeted list of suitable retail accounts
• Approaching and opening new retail customers across independent retailers, health food stores, premium food shops, smaller chains and regional groups
• Developing relationships with retailers and managing trials, sampling and follow up Securing first orders and driving repeat orders
• Managing a clear B2B pipeline with structured reporting
• Gathering market feedback from retailers and customers to inform product, pricing and format decisions
• Identifying which products and formats perform best in physical retail
• Working with the commercial team on B2B tools, trade materials, CRM, pricing discipline and brand alignment
• Connecting retail activity with e commerce, Amazon and customer insight strategy
• Ensuring all retail activity supports the wider brand and commercial plan

The Person

• Experience in premium food, health food, speciality retail, challenger FMCG, independent grocery, farm shops, delis, regional retailers or wholesalers
• A proven track record of opening new accounts and developing independent trade
• A hand on and commercially disciplined approach
• The ability to build a retail channel from the ground up
• Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence and educate retailers
• Comfort working with structure, process and commercial logic
• Confidence gathering market insight and feeding it back into the commercial strategy
• A channel builder mindset rather than a traditional field sales approach
